Young Paducah golfers take third place for PGA Jr. league

The Western Kentucky 13u All-Stars of Paducah placed third at the National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Regional at Kearney Hill Golf Links in Lexington, Ky., this weekend. In the 13u division, the Western KY All-Stars seeded fourth in the four-team field on Saturday with an aggregate 18-hole team total (best 3 of 4) of 224, just behind the ERCC/265 All-Stars of Shreveport, La., with a 219. Leading the field were the Derby City All-Stars of Louisville, Ky., with a 199, followed by the Tri-Cities All-Stars of Tennessee with a 207. Western KY defeated the Shreveport-based team 7.5-4.5 to secure third place overall in Sundays 9-hole match play. Derby City and Tri-Cities competed in the Championship match, with the Tennessee Tri-Cities team winning a spot in the National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, Oct. 7-10. The tournament will be broadcast live on select ESPN networks. Three 17u All-Star teams from Eastern and Middle Tennessee (2) and Louisville, Kentucky (1), competed for the age divisions inaugural title, with the Indian Hills All-Stars of Murfreesboro, Tenn., securing the title. As this is the first year for 17u All-Star players, their journey ends at the Regional level.
