St. Mary boys golf finished off an impressive and busy 2021 season

Although the eighth-place finish at this past weekend’s KHSAA boys state golf tournament was not the finish the Vikings were hoping for, their consolation was in their season’s journey. Out of the 10 weekends in the golf season, the Vikings were on the road for eight of them. Once playing three tournaments in three days, in Bowling Green, Frankfort and Lexington. Another weekend consisted of two tournaments in two days in Mt. Sterling and Lexington. All-in-all the Vikings played in 17 tournaments and five matches, finishing with three-third place finishes, two second-place and three first-place finishes. Topping off the season with 4th at All A State, 10th at All State (top 15 teams in the state) and a Region 1 Championship. To cap off the season, senior Rocco Zakutney made the All State Team with 1,065 points.
