The Memphis Grizzlies came away with win No. 2 on Wednesday night at the FedEx Forum, 137-121 over the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves, thanks to a season-high 31 points from Dillon Brooks and another electric performance from former Murray State point guard Ja Morant.

Currently third in the NBA in fourth-quarter scoring (65 points through seven games, trailing only James Harden and Damian Lillard), Morant picked up 12 of his 26 in the final frame to help the Grizz pull away. His baseline dunk on a feed from Solomon Hill gave Memphis a 110-106 lead with 8:38 left in regulation, and one minute later, his kick to Brooks at the perimeter went for one of his five 3-pointers on the night – giving the Grizzlies a 115-110 advantage.

With his performance, which also included four assists and four rebounds, Morant (9-for-19 shooting, 8-for-10 from the stripe) became the first player to average 20.0 ppg with 5.0 apg on 50 percent shooting through his first seven games since Michael Jordan in his 1984-85 rookie campaign (per ESPN Stats & Information).

He also, with the output, became the first Memphis rookie to score 20-plus points in three straight games since O.J. Mayo did so in four straight games from April 10-15, 2009 (per Grizzlies PR).
