DRAFFENVILLE -- Marshall County used clutch free-throw shooting to help erase a six-point halftime deficit and defeat visiting Murray 52-45 Tuesday to clinch the top seed in the upcoming Fourth District tournament.

Marshall's Halle Langhi scored 12 of her game-high 23 points in the second half, which saw her hit all six of her free-throw attempts. After being held to two points in the first half, Cayson Conner netted 13 in the second half and hit all five of her free throws, as Marshall was 13-for-14 from the line in the final two quarters.

Angela Gierhart started fast for the Lady Tigers, as she led her team with 18 points and hit all three of her 3-pointers in the opening quarter, where Murray led 14-10. Calli Carver and Makenzie Turley added 15 and 10 points, respectively.

• Tilghman 69, CCA 30 -- With a well-balanced attack in the third quarter, Paducah Tilghman went on a 24-3 run that put Community Christian Academy away in this Second District matchup. Jaaliyah Biggers led the Lady Tornado with 19 points, followed by Diamond Gray with 13 points and Eleese Anderson and Dasia Garland with 11 apiece. Rachael Harris toped the Lady Warriors with 11 points, while Alaya Murphy had a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Michael Laster scored 12 points to lead a Tornado roster where 13 players scored. Ty Wilson and Jamison Smith scored 14 and 12 points, respectively, to top the Warriors.

Marshall County named the court in honor of longtime coach Howard Beth between games of the doubleheader.
