St. Mary's boys will be, for the first time, playing in an All "A" soccer sectional at University Heights tonight.

The Vikings (3-4-1) snapped a three-game winless streak Thursday with a 6-2 win over Caldwell County (1-7).

For the Blazers (4-2), who snapped a three-game winning streak with a 5-0 loss to Madisonville-North Hopkins on Saturday, most of the offense will likely come through William Bryan and Tanner Thomas. Bryan leads the team with 15 goals, while Thomas has 10, through six games.

Lady Tigers look to return to All 'A' state tournament

Last season, Murray's girls lost 1-0 to Lexington Christian in the opening round of the All "A" state tournament in Frankfort.

This year, absent some major offensive pieces from last year's group, the Lady Tigers (6-3) have put together a pair of three-game win streaks.

The most recent - a trio of wins (15-0 over Clinton County and a pair of 10-0 shutouts of Russellville and Trigg County) last Saturday in the Russellville Panther Classic - was snapped in a 3-1 loss to Graves County on Thursday.

Kyra Jones and Hollis Bourque have reached the double-digit mark with 13 and 11 goals, respectively, while Jayln Fuqua is on the cusp with nine - all through nine games.

Angela Gierhart has transitioned from her spot in the Murray attack to its net, with 24 saves and six goals against in nine games.

The Lady Blazers (4-2), who lost striker Lilly Strader (Murray State) to graduation a season ago, are on a four-game winning streak after starting the season with losses to Calloway County (3-1) and McCracken County (2-1).
