TENNIS -- The Paducah Tennis Association, USTA, and Paducah Parks & Recreation will offer Fall Junior Tennis Clinics on Sundays from September 8 until October 27. They will not meet on September 29. Kids must be 4-14 years old to participate and all abilities are welcome to participate. The clinics will be at the Paducah Tilghman High School Chad Gamble Tennis Center. The registration deadline is Thursday, Sept. 5. There are three different clinics offered: Hot Shots, for ages 4-9, from 1 to 2 p.m. at a cost of $80; Aces, for ages 8-12, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at a cost of $115; Junior Premiere, for ages 10-14, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at a cost of $150.
GOLF -- Ballard County Country Club and Woodmen Life will host a three-man tournament Sept. 14 and 15. Entry fee is $240 per team which includes sales tax, mulligans and a practice round Monday-Thursday the week of the tournament. Flights and prizes will be based on number of entries. Carts can be rented at $10 per day for one-half cart. All entries and cart reservations must be turned in by 4 p.m. Sept. 11. GOLF -- The Kentucky State Police Post 1 in Mayfield will host the Scott Lathram Memorial Trooper Island Golf Tournament on Sept. 12 at Miller Memorial Golf Course in Murray. It will be a four-person scramble with registration starting at 9 a.m. with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. Entry fee is $260 per team and can be paid the day of the tournament and includes a green fee, golf cart, food and drinks. Space is limited to the first 30 teams that register. Various prizes will be awarded during the tournament, and a silent auction will be conducted. All proceeds will go to Trooper Island.
