Two local teens, 17-year-old Grace Burch and 15-year-old Cate Kupper, finished fourth and 13th respectively at the 2019 United States Equestrian Association's American Eventing Championship presented by Nutrena Feeds at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington Aug. 27 through Sept. 1.

Burch, who is homeschooled and also doing dual-credit at WKCTC, and Kupper, a sophomore at McCracken County High School, are best friends and have trained together for nine years, starting at Sandy Creek Stables in Paducah and then moving on to the programs in Carbondale at Southern Illinois University and also getting their dressage lessons at Four Rivers Sport Horse Center in Paducah.

The championships consist of three events. Dressage and Cross-Country, took place at the park, and Show Jumping took place at the Rolex Arena. The top 15 finishers in the event are also recognized with an award.
