Henderson Co. uses big plays to top Christian Co.
Every time the Christian County Colonels would make a play Friday, the Henderson County Colonels would quickly answer.
And at the end of the night, it was HCHS that answered the call more in its 26-14 victory.
While Sam Elliot doesn't have the cowboy-esque mustache of the more well-known Sam Elliot, he did his fair share of gun-slinging as the HCHS quarterback threw for 271 yards with three touchdowns, including a 67-yard bomb to Edmund Brooks in the first quarter.
Down 14-0, Christian County's L'Ray Coleman scored from two yards out after an AJ Hardy interception got the Cols to the two-yard line.
But again, it was a big play from HCHS as Logan Green scored on a 73-yard run less than a minute after the CCHS touchdown.
The only other score Christian County would get would be on a 30-yard pass and catch that Donta Abren threw to Coleman to make it 20-14, but Henderson County answered the call once again and scored six minutes.
The loss puts Christian County at 0-3 for the first time since 2014. They host Madisonville-North Hopkins next week as Henderson County moves to 3-0.
