HENDERSON -- Paducah got off to an explosive start but could not sustain that momentum, as Henderson got back into the game quickly and went on to a 7-6 win in Ohio Valley League baseball action Friday night.
With the score 5-5 going into the bottom of the eighth, the Flash got going with three consecutive singles that culminated in Dylan Byerly driving Hayden Judice in with the go-ahead run. Byerly and Trey Hutchinson proved troublesome on the basepaths for the Chiefs, as both reached scoring position on a double steal and Hutchinson would score another run on a wild pitch.
Paducah led 4-0 in a first inning capped by a two-RBI double by Lofton Pigg. Gunner Smith cut into that lead in the Henderson half of the first with a three-run homer to center.
Ja'lil Akbar led off the Paducah half of the ninth with a single. He stole second and eventually scored on a pair of wild pitches. Grayson Taylor got as far as second base with the tying run at the time of the final out.
