MARION -- Mayfield scored three runs off back-to-back singles and a fielder's choice in the top of the eighth inning to complete a wild finish to a 9-6 baseball victory Saturday over Crittenden County.

The Rockets led 4-3 going into the top of the seventh when the Cardinals made their move. Colin Price belted an RBI double, and Ethan Couch quickly followed with an RBI single. With another run scoring on a bases-loaded walk, Mayfield was up 6-4.

Crittenden fought back in its half of the seventh. Jayden Carlson led off with a single and a Ben Evans double put both in scoring position. Ian Ellington got both home with a ground ball single. Price stayed calm on the mound for the Cardinals, retiring six of the next seven batters for the well-earned win.
