CALVERT CITY -- A woman walking in floodwaters was swept into the Tennessee River and went missing Saturday, WPSD Local 6 reported.

The Marshall County Rescue Squad said multiple agencies searched Saturday for the woman, who was swept away into the Tennessee River near Calvert City.

Curt Curtner with the Marshall County Rescue Squad told WPSD that multiple agencies were searching for the woman, described in her mid to late 30s. Her name was not released Saturday.

Curtner told WPSD the woman was walking in floodwaters to meet someone on a vessel when she was swept into the river.

Curtner told the station that search efforts were stopped Saturday night because of low visibility and for the safety of search teams working in flooded conditions.

Teams will resume the search at 8 a.m. today, WPSD reported.

Curtner told the station that the efforts will transition from rescue operations to a recovery effort.
