EDITOR:

A special thank you to Paducah Mayor Brandi Harless for having named my birthday, May 7, as Beaux Tie Day to encourage all local citizens to donate to their nonprofits on that day each year.

I deeply appreciate the contributions that have given support to the many nonprofits in our city. This is the third year of Beaux Tie Day and for the first time donations came from outside Paducah with a generous $1,000 gift to the Merryman House and an undisclosed amount from Louisville to the Paducah Symphony Orchestra.

The donations go directly to your charity, and unless notified, I am unaware of who receives these heartfelt donations. All organizations can use the nonprofit trademark to encourage people to give every May 7.

Each day someone comes up to me and thanks Beaux Tie Day for remembering them. There are a number of nonprofits I had not been aware of that needed funding and are now receiving money for their vital services. Again, a special thank you.

Hooray for Paducah for donating.
