James "JB" Smith, age 93 of Paducah, passed away at 4:10 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2019, at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center at Lourdes hospital.

JB was a longtime member of Broadway Church of Christ where he served as Deacon and did maintenance at the church for many years. He was a graduate of Reidland High School and served in U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from Union Carbide and owned his own heating and air-conditioning business for many years.

JB enjoyed salmon fishing, camping, traveling and was an avid University of Kentucky Basketball fan and enjoyed the St. Louis Cardinal Baseball.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Morris and Carol Cain; two sons, Tom Warren and wife, Carol, Mike Smith and wife Debby; seven grandchildren, Cindy (Jeff) Walker, Pam Morris, Christie (Clint) Barrow, Bret (Summer) Morris, Steve (Michelle) Warren, Karen (John) Latham and Shellie (Deron) Parks; 15 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; and several cousins.

Preceding in death was his wife, Maxine Pirtle Smith; parents, Bradley and Lena Legate Smith; one brother, Charles Smith.

Services will be held Monday, December 2, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Andy Clausen and Bret Morris officiating. Entombment will follow at Brook Hill Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2019, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah from 5-8 p.m.
