Glendell Clinton Butterworth, 84, of Paducah, passed away at 6:10 p.m. on September 6, 2019, at the Bob and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center.

Following graduation from Harrisburg Township High School, he joined the United States Navy. In the Navy, he was a member of a Naval Flight crew during the Vietnam Conflict.

He is survived by his wife, Donna (Pierson) Butterworth; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Bret Cude of Gilbertsville; granddaughter, Cassy Cude of Jackson, Tennessee, and sister and brother-in-law, Dorrice and Charles Leake of Mexico, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Alta Butterworth.

He held various positions with Southeastern Rural Electric Coop in Eldorado, Illinois, and retired in 1999.

After his retirement, he volunteered with Southern Baptist Disaster Relief teams traveling to areas assisting with hurricane and tornado damage.

Glen was a member and served as a deacon of the Elizabethtown Southern Baptist Church in Elizabethtown, Illinois.

Graveside services will be held at the Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg, Illinois, Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Ed Lafferty of the Elizabethtown Southern Baptist Church officiating.

There will be no visitation.
