BENTON -- Dennis R. Waters, 73, of Benton, passed away Friday, October 18, at Lake Way Nursing and Rehab in Benton.
Dennis was a member and children's pastor at New Zion Baptist Church. Dennis was an ordained Baptist minister and had served as pastor of churches in Hopkins, Marshall, Christian and Crittenden counties. He was a retired supervisor with the U.S. Post office in Paducah. Dennis was a U.S. Army combat veteran of the Vietnam War and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Leach Waters, Benton; daughter, Sarah Maurer, Gainesville, Florida; sons, Jeff Waters, Benton, Gerald Wallace, Benton, and Scott Wallace, San Antonio, Texas; sister, Bonnie James, Eddyville; brothers, Douglas Waters and Terry Waters, both of Eddyville; 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Gladys Ruth Reed Waters.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 22, from noon to 3 p.m. at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 22, at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dale Taylor, Rev. Roger Waters and Gail Wallace officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Glenns Chapel Cemetery in Lyon County.
