Beatrice passed on Tuesday morning, February 11, 2020, after a serious stroke at Thanksgiving of 2019. She spent her last days in the loving care of her family in Knoxville. She's come back to Milburn to be buried next to her husband, Ralph (1917-2015).

Beatrice was born in Coatbridge, Scotland, the second daughter of George William Knight and Robina Cumming McKay. Her family, including sister Mary and brother George, moved to Kent, England before the start of WWII. As soon as she was old enough, she enlisted in the Royal Navy and served during the War at Woburn Abbey, an outpost of the Codebreakers of Bletchley Park. While at Woburn, she met Ralph Edrington, a young Yankee airman from a nearby base. They were married a few months later, and after the war, Beatrice immigrated to Kentucky on the original RMS Queen Mary.

She and Ralph lived on the family farm between Milburn and Arlington for 70 years. She learned to take care of the animals, cook from the garden, fry catfish, and raised two boys, David and Charles. She was active in the Arlington Methodist Church and led the choir for many years. She loved to sing and had a fine voice. She was also a devoted member of the Milburn Methodist Church. She joined in the social life of Arlington with the Arlington Women's Club and loved the educational programs they created. She later rose to lead the Purchase District Club and the Kentucky State Women's Club.

She traveled back to England numerous times including one trip with Ralph on the Concorde. She actively supported Ralph in his role with the West Kentucky Rural Electric Co-op and they met many good friends at the Co-op.

Survivors include two sons, David Edrington and spouse, B.K. of Eugene, Oregon, and Charles Edrington and spouse, Cynthia of Knoxville, Tennessee; two wonderful grandchildren, Susan and Cody and four great-grandchildren.

Beatrice was predeceased by her sister, Mary Knight, in 1981 and brother, George McKay Knight, in July of 2019, both of Folkestone, Kent, England.

A funeral service will be held at the Milburn Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2020, with Rev. Jonathan Althoff officiating. Burial will be in the Milburn Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington.

Visitation for friends will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, at the Milburn Methodist Church.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in Beatrice Edrington's name to the Milburn Methodist Church, c/o Judy Crider: 4940 ST RT 80E Arlington, KY 42021 and/or the Mayfield-Graves County Animal Shelter: 500 N 12th St, Mayfield, KY 42066.
