Where were you when the Twin Towers were attacked?

Mary Jane Hedges, Paducah

“I was in first period at Murray High School, in algebra class. I was a junior that year. I can remember Channel One news that we all watched in the morning came on, and then, it abruptly turned off, and it turned to the news covering the story. We were all just watching that show in disbelief. The teachers were all very upset, and when I got home, my parents and we all discussed it.

“Still to this day, I live in a land of rainbows and butterflies and everything is happy and positive. I think that it was very disheartening to see that it’s not like that sometimes.

“I’m an Army brat. My dad was a drill sergeant in the Army. I’m very prideful of our country and who defends it, so there was a lot of anger, and it was just very sad that we were attacked and taken advantage of.”
