A Paducah woman faces an abuse charge after the McCracken County Sheriff's Department received a report involving a young child.
Priscilla Leaddington, 24, was arrested Wednesday and charged with one count of first-degree criminal abuse. She was booked at McCracken County Jail.
The sheriff's department announced Wednesday that detectives have investigated a child abuse report since June 14. Detectives responded that day to the Baptist Health Paducah emergency room after medical staff reported a 2-year-old being seen in the ER with "obvious abuse-related injuries," according to a news release.
"The 2-year-old had bruising over a large portion of his body," the release states. "A criminal investigation was begun and involved interview(ing) multiple people, inspecting several residences and the expert of opinion of Kosair's medical unit."
Their investigation led to Leaddington's arrest on the first-degree charge, but the release did not disclose what Leaddington's relationship is to the child.
Sheriff's department Sgt. Benny Kauffman told The Sun that the child was healed, but did not give more information on their status.
