Two Paducah residents face various charges after McCracken County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call for a welfare check on a young child.

Deputies responded to an address on Benton Road Sunday, after a caller alleged that the mother of a four-month-old child may have been using illegal drugs, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies had previously responded to the arrest for a drug investigation.

When they responded, deputies found the mother was not under the influence of drugs, but a search of the residence found Justin Edwards, 28, in possession of various substances.

Edwards was charged with one count each of first-degree possession of methamphetamine, first offense, first-degree possession of an unspecified drug, first offense, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies also found Dustin Wistafke, 36, and arrested him on an outstanding firearm theft warrant from Whitley County.
