Voter turnout for primary elections is typically low, and this year was no exception. The four voting areas at Paducah Middle School stood unused for much of Tuesday's primary election. Poll workers reported sporadic turnout. The McCracken County Clerk's Office reported 8,672 people, or 17 percent, voted Tuesday. After polls closed, McCracken County Clerk Julie Griggs said 17 percent is a low turnout, but she was still "excited" to hear that amount, as it's almost double the voter turnout with the same races in 2015.
