A traffic stop Thursday led to the arrest of a Paducah man on drug charges.
At about 3:50 p.m., McCracken County Sheriff’s Office Drug Division detectives pulled over a 2004 Pontiac Grand-Am for alleged traffic violations on Wayne Sullivan Drive.
Detectives reported that the driver, Shawn M. Douthitt, 48, showed signs of being under the influence of what detectives believed to be methamphetamine. Detectives said Douthitt tried to get something from his pants pocket and conceal it, which they said was a methamphetamine smoking pipe.
During a search, several baggies of methamphetamine and items of drug paraphernalia were allegedly found on Douthitt. The sheriff's office said a search of the vehicle revealed marijuana and additional assorted items of drug paraphernalia, such as digital scales.
Douthitt was arrested and taken to McCracken County Regional Jail.
Douthitt was out on parole for methamphetamine related offenses, tampering with physical evidence and other charges, the sheriff's office said.
