The Shawnee National Forest announced Wednesday a series of Family Trekkers hikes aimed at bringing parents and children to the recreation area in the coming weeks.

June Family Trekkers events include:

• June 18 at the Pounds Hollow Recreation Area

• June 25 at the Bell Smith Springs Recreation Area

All of the programs are from 10-11:30 a.m.

Groups may pre-register by calling the Mississippi Bluffs Ranger District at 618-833-8576.

Each location has picnic areas and the Lake Glendale and Pounds Hollow hikes have swimming beaches. The hikes will help participants to discover natural wonders as they participate in various trail activities.
