A Paducah man was arrested after he allegedly fired several shots at another person in an alley late Tuesday morning.
According to the arrest report, police were called at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday after several people saw a man fire three shots at another man in an alley behind the Church of the Nazarene's family center at 2612 Adams St. One of the rounds struck the church building at 2626 Adams St.
Several people sitting in line at the drive-thru of a fast food restaurant saw the incident, and some of them were able to identify the shooter by his first name. Officers got a description of the suspect, who was spotted nearby and ran away.
After a foot chase, the suspect, William R. Moore, 20, of Paducah, was caught nearby. A handgun was reportedly found in a trash can that Moore had run past. The gun matched the caliber of shell casings found at the scene and the description provided by witnesses.
Moore was arrested on charges of three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot) and tampering with physical evidence. He was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
