A motorcycle wreck Saturday morning on Oaks Road sent a Reidland area man to a hospital.

McCracken deputies were called at 10:05 a.m. to the 1100 block of Oaks Road in eastern McCracken County. According to the incident report, deputies found Richard E. Winstead, 63, in the roadway with several injuries. Winstead said that a dog ran in front of him and he had no time to react to avoid hitting the dog, which died from its injuries.

Winstead was thrown from his motorcycle onto the roadway. He sustained several injuries. He was transported to Mercy Health-Lourdes Hospital by Mercy Regional EMS. Winstead was later flown to another hospital. Deputies tried to find the owner of the dog.
