A McCracken County sheriff's vehicle tows a trailer full of items reportedly stolen and recovered Tuesday through a multi-agency investigation into recent storage unit thefts.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department has been actively investigating numerous thefts from storage units, barns and trailers over the past several months.

On Tuesday, with the help of multiple agencies in the area and southern Illinois, the sheriff's department recovered items such as antique glassware, antique lamps, an antique stoplight, propane heaters, hand and power tools, a typewriter, a collection of hand-painted lead soldiers, stage lighting and a four-wheeler, all reportedly stolen.

The Massac County Sheriff's Department executed a search warrant at a local residence that led to the seizure of many items which were allegedly stolen. Information from that search was given to McCracken deputies, who conducted a search warrant on a storage unit in McCracken County and found additional property suspected to have been stolen.

Anyone who fell victim to theft from a storage unit should contact the McCracken sheriff's department. Property owners are asked to provide a description of the property stolen, along with a police report or information that proves they fell victim to theft.

Those wanting to identify the recovered property should contact either the McCracken County Sheriff's Department at 270-444-4719 or the Massac County Sheriff's Department at 618-524-2912.
