A Metropolis, Illinois, man was arrested in Paducah on Monday in connection with several alleged sexual crimes committed in Illinois and Kentucky.
In October, the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Metropolis Police Department regarding the possible rape of a teenage female.
Detectives from Metropolis had already began investigating Nathan Anderson, 47, of Metropolis for alleged crimes committed in Illinois. With the assistance of the Metropolis Police Department, detectives from the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office began investigating Anderson, too. According to the arrest report, authorities believe Anderson committed several sexual crimes against a female teen in McCracken County. The acts are alleged to have occurred over 14 months.
On Monday, Anderson was seen in Paducah by Metropolis and McCracken detectives. He was arrested and charged with one count each of third-degree rape, third-degree sodomy, third-degree sexual abuse and first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor.
More charges for acts committed in Kentucky are possible, and more jurisdictions are expected to charge Anderson as well. Authorities believe Anderson committed similar crimes against the same juvenile in at least four states.
Anderson was taken to the McCracken County Jail, where he was being held on a $25,000 cash bond.
