A Graves County man faces a felony charge after he allegedly stole a license plate from another vehicle.

Adam Cole, 23, of Wingo was arrested Saturday and charged with theft of a motor vehicle registration plate and other traffic violations. He was additionally served with a warrant taken by Mayfield Police Department for traffic offenses.

Around 4:15 a.m. Saturday, a Wingo woman reported to the Graves County Sheriff's Office that she thought Cole stole the license plate from her 2005 Toyota and placed it on a 1990s model Ford Crown Victoria.

"She also advised Cole had an outstanding warrant in Graves County," the sheriff's office said.

Deputy Steve Halsell took the report and spotted the vehicle traveling westbound on Ky. 339 near Scott Road, while in the Sedalia community around 7 a.m. The vehicle had the reported stolen plate on it and was pulled over, the sheriff's office said.

Cole was identified as the driver and was booked into Graves County Jail.
