The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said federal fugitive James Dowell was captured Friday morning following a manhunt Thursday in Lyon County.

Dowell, 30, was arrested on Iron Hill Road off KY 810 South, near Kuttawa. The sheriff’s office credited the arrest to citizens who called in tips.

Around 3 p.m. Thursday, the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force notified the sheriff’s office they were looking for a fugitive last spotted in Lyon County after a pursuit from Marshall County. The task force said they were pursuing a car with two people in it.

Law enforcement lost sight of the car, but the Chevy Cruze was later located by deputies on KY 810 South.

A passenger in the car was caught and arrested Thursday.

The Kentucky State Police assisted in the manhunt.
