Father charged in shooting of 2-year-old

A Graves County man has been charged in connection with an accidental shooting Oct. 1 of a 2-year-old.

Zachary Page, 25, is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment after a Kentucky State Police investigation into the shooting.

On Oct. 1, state police responded to a report of an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound to a 2-year-old near Sedalia in Graves County. According to state police, the investigation revealed the child had access to a holstered handgun, which led to an accidental discharge, striking the infant. The infant was airlifted to a Nashville, Tennessee, hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the release, the investigation showed that Page, the child's father, did not secure the weapon. On Monday, state police consulted with the Graves Commonwealth's Attorney's Office regarding the investigation and arrested Page that evening. He was brought to the Graves County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing by Trooper Sarah Burgess.
