McCracken County High School students Ashlyn Gibson and Jordan Ware were awarded $5,000 in scholarships from Comcast NBCUniversal for the 2018-19 school year as part of its annual Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program. Students are selected for outstanding community service, academic performance and leadership skills.
Logan Pierce of Murray participated in the Spring 2019 commencement ceremonies at Emerson College in Boston on May 12, receiving a BA in writing, literature and publishing. Pierce will officially complete the degree in August.
Abigail Reinhardt of Almo earned a spot on the Dean's List for Spring 2019 at Central College, Pella, Iowa. The honor is awarded to full-time students who achieve a 3.5 grade-point average or higher on a 4.0 scale while taking 12 or more graded credit hours for the semester.
Tristin Drake of Paducah recently attended the weeklong Aviation Challenge Mach II at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala. Taking the role of fighter pilots, Tristin and team ran control systems and scenario-based missions as well as trained in water and land survival.
Cadin Drake of Paducah recently attended the weeklong Space Academy at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala. Cadin spent the week training with a team that flew a simulated space mission to the International Space Station, the moon or Mars. The crew participated in experiments and successfully completed a spacewalk.
