A West Paducah man faces charges after a traffic crash Thursday in the Blandville Road area.
Awstyn Lamar, 18, is charged with receiving stolen property - firearm (class D felony), possession of firearm by convicted felon (class C felony), second-degree criminal mischief and instruction permit violations.
Around 10:54 p.m. Thursday, McCracken County Sheriff's Department personnel responded to a collision with injuries located west of the North Gum Springs intersection on Blandville Road. The department states an investigation showed Lamar was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Impala, traveled across the opposite lane to avoid hitting an animal and struck a utility pole after going through a ditch.
"During the investigation, a stolen firearm was located," a news release stated. "Awstyn was convicted earlier this year on firearms related charges."
Lamar was transported to a local hospital for non-incapacitating injuries and cited into court due to being admitted.
Mercy EMS, Randy's Body Shop, Paducah Power and West McCracken/Concord Fire Department assisted the sheriff's department. The road was partially blocked for about an hour.
