Authorities search for federal fugitive in Lyon County

Authorities are looking for a federal fugitive last spotted in Lyon County after a pursuit from Marshall County.

Investigators say James McDowell, 30, is a white male, standing six feet tall and weighing 170 pounds. He has brown hair, blue eyes, and a large tattoo on the right side of his face.

Around 3 p.m. Thursday, the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force notified the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office they were pursuing a car with two people.

Law enforcement lost sight of the car, but the Chevy Cruze was later located by deputies on KY 810 South, near Kuttawa.

A passenger in the car was caught and arrested, authorities said, but Dowell ran away.

The sheriff’s office said Dowell is dangerous and may be armed. Dowell has served time for drugs, theft and burglary and other crimes.

The Kentucky State Police is assisting in the manhunt.
