The American Quilter's Society announced Wednesday the schedule for a special event during its Paducah Fall QuiltWeek that will feature baker Mauro Castano, of Carlo's Bakery, who has been featured on TLC's "Cake Boss."

In celebration of the group's 35th anniversary -- a theme that will be present throughout the Sept. 11-14 event -- Castano will be designing, baking and presenting the world's largest quilt cake on Sept. 12 in the atrium of the Julian Carroll Convention Center.

The schedule for the event:

• 1:30-2:30 p.m., Meet and greet and photo opportunity with Castano in front of cake.

• 2:30-2:40 p.m., Introductions and the naming of the winners of the quilt cake design and coloring contest.

• 2:30-3 p.m., A slate of speakers including Kentucky State Rep. Randy Bridges; a representative of the McCracken County Fiscal Court; Paducah Mayor Pro Tem Richard Abraham; Diana Santaiti of Janome America, the event's presenting sponsor; and Meredith Schroeder, president of AQS.

• 3 p.m., Presentation of cake and singing "Happy Birthday" to AQS.

• 3-4:15 p.m., Cake is served to quilters and public.
