Jennifer Scism has been named principal of Lone Oak Elementary School. Scism began her teaching career in Sikeston Public Schools in 2009 as an art teacher. She came to McCracken County Schools in 2014 and was an art teacher at Reidland Elementary and Reidland Middle schools. She has spent the last three years as an art teacher in the Christian County School district. She earned a bachelor's of arts degree in fine art education from Harding University. In 2014, she received her master's degree in elementary administration from William Woods University.

Kathleen Curphy has been appointed interim president of Shawnee Community College. She previously served as vice president of academic affairs. She has over 25 years experience as a two-year college administrator, where she has provided executive-level guidance for both rural and urban multi-campus institutions. Curphy has served as provost, vice chancellor of academic affairs, and vice president for customized training and workforce development, among other positions. She has a doctorate from Capella University, where she focused her dissertation on competencies for community college leaders.

Brandy Michelle McDowell, Paducah, a licensed massage therapist and spa owner, has been appointed to the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Massage Therapy, by Gov. Matt Bevin. She serve a term expiring July 16, 2022.

The Baptist Health Paducah stroke program has been recognized by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for meeting national guidelines for stroke care. The program received The Get With The Guidelines silver plus quality achievement award as well as the Target:Stroke Honor Roll Elite recognition for meeting stroke quality measures that reduce the time between hospital arrival and treatment with the clot-busting drug known as tPA.

Baptist Health Paducah has named Craig Beavers, Pharm.D., as cardiology services director. Beavers graduated in 2009 from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy and completed a postgraduate year one pharmacy practice residency and a postgraduate year two cardiology pharmacy residency at UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital in Lexington. He previously served as the cardiovascular clinical pharmacy coordinator at UK Healthcare and with the UK Gill Heart Institute, as well as the director of Cardiovascular Services for the Hospital Corporation of America, and as a cardiovascular clinical pharmacy specialist with TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Beavers currently is an assistant adjunct professor with the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy.

Dr. Jim Woods, Paducah, has been named the recipient of Kentucky Dental Association's 2019 Fellowship Award. The award is given to a dentist who has made an outstanding contribution to dentistry in the commonwealth. Woods and his daughter, Dr. McKenzie Woods, maintain a private practice specializing in orthodontics.

Lora Riley was recently promoted to trust relationship manager/trust operations manager at Paducah Bank. Riley, who has nearly 30 years of financial services industry experience, has been with Paducah Bank for 11 years. The Tiline native is a graduate of Livingston Central High School, Paducah Community College and the Southeastern Trust School at Campbell University.
