METROPOLIS, Ill. — Mr. Lyndell “K Woody” Caldwell, 84, of Metropolis, Ill., passed away at 1:50 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2013, at Massac Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2013, at Aikins Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis. Rev. Terry Moore will officiate. Burial will follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery with military rites.
Mr. Caldwell was postal service worker for 35 years, an Army veteran and a member of the American Legion. Lyndell was also a sign painter and screen printer for many years with some of his most known works being Superman memorabilia seen throughout Metropolis.
Lyndell is survived by three children, Pam Angel of Metropolis, Cheryl Sexton of Calvert City and Doug Caldwell and wife Tina of Metropolis; four grandchildren, Lisa Graves and husband Steve of Metropolis, Ashley Woody and husband Troy of Reidland, Shelby Caldwell of Metropolis and Shaun Caldwell of Metropolis; six great-grandchildren, Peyton Skees and Sydney Skees of Metropolis, and Kaylie Newbold, Mackenzie Woody, Haley Woody, and Raegan Woody of Reidland; and one brother, Kenneth Caldwell of Lakewood, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of over 50 years, Jane Caldwell; and one granddaughter, Miranda Sexton.
Friends may call to the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home on Monday, November 4, from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.
