GRAND RIVERS — George W. “G.W.” Holt, 88, of Grand Rivers died at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 31, 2013, at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.
He worked for many years as an equipment operator and belonged to the Operating Engineers Local 181 in Evansville, Ind. He also was a heavy-equipment mechanic and was a supplier of prefabricated concrete products for the construction industry. He was a U.S. Navy veteran during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater of Operations.
He is survived by one daughter, Phillias Sterett of Princeton; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVerne Eaton Holt; one brother; and one sister. His parents were George and Evylin Knig Holt.
Graveside services with military honors will be at 11 a.m. Monday, November 4, 2013, at Dixon Cemetery in Grand Rivers.
Dunn’s Funeral Home in Eddyville is in charge of arrangements.
