VILLA RIDGE, Ill. — Harold L. Stringer, 86, of Villa Ridge died at 5:30 a.m. Monday, October 28, 2013, at his home.
He was a member and elder of Pulaski Christian Church, was the oldest Pulaski County Fair Board member, and served as the Grand Parade Marshal for the 50th Pulaski County Fair Parade.
He was employed for 22 years with the Illinois State Police as a clerk and radio dispatcher with Sub Post 13A, Cairo; and held several offices in Pulaski County including Circuit Clerk for 3 years (appointee), served as a deputy for the Pulaski County Sheriff office, and General Assistant Administrator for 4 years. He was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Stringer; one son, Chris Stringer of Villa Ridge; one brother, Billy Stringer of Everson, Wash.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers; two sisters; and one son, Rodney L. Stringer. His parents were Willie Webster Stringer and Nettie (Kupfer) Stringer.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Pulaski Christian Church with Rev. Rob Arbeiter officiating. Interment will follow in the Liberty Cemetery in rural Pulaski.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge and from 10 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the church.
