Charles Clifton “Cliff” Thomasson, 92, of Paducah, passed away at 9:10 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Lourdes hospital.
Mr. Thomasson was a member of St. Thomas More Church, serving as a church usher for many years. He retired from the A&P Tea Company as a butcher, meat department manager and later store manager. He also retired from the city of Paducah as Alcohol and Beverage Control officer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Southwest Pacific in the China, Burma, India Theater. Mr. Thomasson played on the 1938 State Championship Basketball team from Sharp High School. He played baseball in the late 1940’s on the Twin State Baseball League and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mr. Thomasson is survived by two sons, Larry Thomasson and wife Linda of Cadiz, KY., and David Thomasson and wife Ruthie of Calvert City, KY.; seven grandchildren, Drew Thomasson and wife Jennifer, Cara Arnold and husband Jon, Kyle Thomasson and wife Lisa, Ethan Thomasson, Eric Thomasson, Nathan Lemons and wife Holly, and Matthew Newberry and wife Kimberly; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Bolger Thomasson; three sisters, Edith Barnes, Mary Clay Thomasson, and Avis Brooks; and three brothers, Frank Thomasson, Ernest Thomasson, and James Thomasson. His parents were Ed and Rebecca Binkley Thomasson.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Father J. Patrick Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 21, 2013, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah, with prayers to be said at 7:30 p.m.
