Dr. Norval R. Kelley
METROPOLIS, Ill. — Dr. Norval R. Kelley, age 88, of Metropolis, Ill., passed away on Monday, October 14, 2013, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2013, at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens. Dr. Calvin Cole and the Rev. Matthew Kelley will officiate.
Norval was born on August 3, 1925, in Union County, Ill., to Aldolphus and Iva Kelley. He served as a radio operator in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS Salt Lake City. Norval was married on July 5, 1947, to Marcella J. Karraker and in this union they had three sons. Dr. Kelley was a practicing chiropractor in Metropolis from 1954 to 1987 and a member of the First Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband and family man and will be dearly missed.
Norval is survived by his wife, Marcella Kelley of Metropolis; two sons, Lloyd G. Kelley and wife, Debbie, of Brentwood, Tenn., and Kevin R. Kelley and wife, Sheila, of Metropolis; three grandsons, the Rev. Matthew Kelley and wife, Jessica, Andrew Kelley and wife, Alexis, and Karson Kelley; three stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Wayne Kelley; his brother, Amel Kelley; and his sister, Vertis (Kelley) Clutts.
Friends may call at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home on October 18, 2013, from 12 noon to 2 p.m.
