KUTTAWA — J R Youngblood, 83, of Kuttawa, formerly of Mayfield and Eddyville died Sunday, October 13, 2013, at his home.
He was a member of New Vision Baptist Church of Mayfield, a Korean War veteran and a Kentucky Colonel. He was an art teacher in the Mayfield School System for 17 years and retired from the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Frances Dublin Youngblood; one son, Curt Youngblood of Paducah; one daughter, Susan Cox of Kuttawa; three grandchildren, Andrea Stafford of Evansville, Ind., Levi Cox and Dylan Cox, both of Kuttawa, and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two brothers. His parents were Harvey and Odessa Youngblood.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield with the Revs. Chad Frizzell and Adam Stephenson officiating. Entombment will be at Highland Park Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at the funeral home.
