Kaleb W. Thompson, 18, of Paducah, operating a 2000 Harley Davidson about 9:30 p.m. west bound on New Hope Road, approached 6500 New Hope Church Road when he started to negotiate a curve. For unknown reasons, he laid the motorcycle onto its side and began to slide, McCracken County sheriff's Sgt. Michael Wray reported early this morning.
Thompson slid for a distance until he hit a utility pole that was a few feet off the road, Wray reported. Emergency medical workers pronounced Thompson dead at the scene.
The McCracken County Coroner’s Office investigated and determined Thompson’s preliminary cause of death was blunt force trauma to the body from striking the utility pole.
Thompson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, Wray reports.
The road was shut down about 90 minutes between Clinton and Mayfied-Metropolis roads.
