Police say that Jonathan Crum, 27, was the driver who fled on foot after the chase. He is described as white, about 5-foot-10 inches tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing black shorts and tennis shoes.
McCracken Sheriff Jon Hayden said the KSP asked for his department's help during the car chase that reached speeds of more than 100 mph. Deputies moved out ahead of the chase and placed spike strips out on the road, which stopped the vehicle — a red SUV — and caused it to leave the highway and crash into a tree-lined field.
The driver left the SUV when it stopped and took off on foot. K-9 officers and KSP detectives are in the area working the manhunt.
KSP Trooper Jay Thomas said there were three others in the vehicle with Crum at the time. None of them fled the scene. Two were taken in for questioning, he said, and another was arrested on the scene.
