Sgt. (Ret.) James B. Minton
LOUISVILLE — Sgt. (Ret.) James B. Minton, 69, of Louisville, died Oct. 2, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was a native of Paducah, Ky., and a graduate of Flaget High School. A retired sergeant of the Louisville Division of Police, Jim also was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 614 and a Kentucky Colonel. Jim loved boating on the river and attending his grandchildren’s, nieces’ and nephews’ athletic activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert F. Minton Sr. and Louise Stokes Minton, and a brother, Herbert F. Minton Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Pam; daughters, Renee Karem (Louie) and Kim Minton; brother, Daniel J. Minton (Pat); sister, Judy O’Keeffe of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; stepdaughter, Missi Wallace (Lee); grandchildren Paige Karem, Justin Karem, Ashley Tomlin and Brandon Wallace, and great-grandson, Rylan Shields; niece, Jennifer Minton Whelan; nephew, Danny Minton (Lizzie); great-nieces Elizabeth Whelan and Sophie Minton; and great-nephew, Liam Whelan. He is also survived by a loving extended family and many friends. Special thanks to Drs. Jeffrey Hargis, Jonathan Kraut and Shirley Meredith, and the nurses and staff on the third floor of Baptist Hospital East Tower.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m., Oct. 4, 2013, at Pearson’s, 149 Breckinridge Lane, Louisville, with the FOP memorial service taking place at 7 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m., Oct. 5, 2013, at St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church, 1104 South 6th St., Louisville, Fr. Francis Ralph, O.P. presiding.
