BRADENBURG — Memorial services for Scott Steven Barksdale, 64, of Brandenburg will be at 2 p.m. (EDT) Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, from the chapel of Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home.
Mr. Barksdale, a native of McKenzie, Tenn., died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at Brandenburg Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Mr. Barksdale was a former Brandenburg city councilman and mayor. He was instrumental in organizing Brandenburg’s and Anniston’s (Ala.) Main Street programs.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 20 years, Sharon Yonker Barksdale. His parents were Marvin Kenneth and Lottie Faye Wray Barksdale.
He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Drake of Paducah and Erica Shields of Virginia; one son, Travis Barksdale of Cullman, Ala.; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Jane Slinger and Kim Barksdale; and two brothers, Ron Barksdale and Marty Barksdale.
Friends may call after 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at the funeral home.
