Edward Allen Steger, 88, of Reidland passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013, at 4:16 p.m. at Baptist Health Paducah. Ed was born in McCracken County, Ky., on December 24, 1924.
He was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Paducah. Ed graduated from Heath High School and served in the U.S. Army for two years. He retired from GAF after working there for 33 years. He enjoyed gardening, telling jokes, reading and serving others.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Thelma Peck Steger of Paducah; his sons, Rhodes Steger and wife Jennifer of Germantown, Tenn., Randy Steger and wife Christina of Lebanon, Tenn., and Rodney Steger and wife Sara of Huntsville, Ala.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and special friends, Mats and Annakarin Mehrstedt of Hamburg, Germany, and Roger and Laura Thompson of Paducah, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. John Thomas Steger and Effie Allen Steger; a sister, Edra Steger Gholson; and a brother, Louis Steger.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2013, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. Burial will follow at Hartsfield Cemetery in Marshall County, Ky.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, September 28, 2013, at the funeral home.
