BENTON — Rev. Haynes (Tom) Wilson, 86, of Benton died at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2013, at Baptist Health Paducah.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and then in the U.S. Marine Corps. After his tour of duty, he began a career working as a water department technician for the City of Pontiac, Mich. During this time he was ordained serving as an evangelist for over 44 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Gilbertsville.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Colson) Haynes; two sons, Rev. Brian Matthew Wilson of Benton and Barry W. Wilson of French Lick, Ind.; one brother, Christopher Coltrane of Mancelona, Mich.; one sister, Peggy Richards of Oxford, Mich..; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Mark Thomas Wilson; and one sister. His parents were Otis Wilson and Mary (Haynes) Wilson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at Collier Funeral Home in Benton with the Revs. Bruce Huff and Brian Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Salem Cemetery in Murray.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, September 23, 2013, at the funeral home.
