OWENSBORO — Paula Marie Bittel, 60, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at University of Louisville Hospital.
She was born in Daviess County March 24, 1953, to the late Joseph R. Sr. and Virginia Sisk Bittel. Miss Bittel graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School in 1971 and was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church. She was employed at Carmel Home and enjoyed helping them with their many fundraisers. She also loved flowers and gardening. She was preceded in death by a brother, Howell Bittel on February 4, 1997.
Survivors include a sister, Sharon (Fred) Coomes of Philpot; her twin brother, Father Patrick M. Bittel of Rome; and another brother, Joseph R. (Jamie) Bittel of Utica; six nieces, Shannon Coomes, Sarah Geoghagen, Stephanie, Suzanne Coomes, Lauren Payne, and Lynnsie Fulkerson; four nephews, Fred Coomes, Tim Coomes, Andy Coomes and David Coomes; seven great-nieces; and seven great-nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013, at Immaculate Catholic Church officiated by Father Patrick Bittel. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2013, and after 9 a.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with prayers at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening.
