METROPOLIS, Ill. — Mrs. Imogene “Jean” Potterbaum, age 86, of Metropolis, Ill., passed away at 7:10 a.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2013, at the Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at the Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis. Rev. Joe Buchanan and Rev. Ashley Legereit will officiate. Entombment will follow at the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Imogene was the retired owner/operator of Lauderdale Florist and Jean & Doree’s Antiques. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Metropolis and a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to all her family and friends.
Imogene is survived by a daughter, Peggy Legereit of Metropolis, Ill.; a son, Ronald Potterbaum of Metropolis, Ill.; six grandchildren, Amber Cissell, Ashley Legereit, Danny Legereit, Brian Potterbaum, Misty Potterbaum, and Meagan Potterbaum; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Connie Williams and Dorris Hunter; and several nieces and nephews.
Imogene was preceded in death by her parents, John Davis and Myrtle (Wiseman) Lauderdale; her husband, Leonard Potterbaum; two sons, Raymond Brian Potterbaum and Lee Potterbaum; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Mary Alice Mackey; and two brothers, Bobby Lauderdale and Calvin Leo “C.L.” Lauderdale.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis.
