METROPOLIS, Ill. — Emma Gene (Meyers) Averitt, 66, of Metropolis, Ill., died at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at her home.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her children, Kay Jameson, Janice Kinsey and Ronnie Averitt, all of Metropolis, Angie Gullett of Nebraska, Theresa Humphrey of Wayland, Mich., and Allen Wynn Estel of Cave-In-Rock, 17 grandchildren; three brothers, Herman Meyers of Belknap, William Meyers of Metropolis, and Bobby D. Meyers of Vienna; and three sisters, Rosie Easley of Joppa, Betty Joiner of Metropolis, and Wilma Black of Newport, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Benjamin Averitt Jr.; a daughter, Tina Marie Averitt; a grandson; two brothers; and two sisters. Her parents were Henry Joseph Meyers and Violena (Hardin) Meyers.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, September 16, 2013, at Berea Cemetery, southeast of Vienna. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m.-1 p.m. at the cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
