Claudine Pepper Shurley, 94, of Paducah, formerly of Meridian, Miss., passed away Friday, September 6, 2013, at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis, Ill.
Claudine was born in Yazoo City, Miss., September 18, 1918, to the late Wesley Pepper and Mary Annie Fisher Pepper. She retired as a secretary from Meridian and Bigbee Railroad. Mrs. Shurley was a lifelong resident of Mississippi before moving to Kentucky in 1995. She was a member of Paducah First Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her son, Rev. Lynn E. Shurley Jr. and his wife Elaine; two grandsons, Britton Michael Shurley and wife Amelia of Paducah and Justin Plyler Shurley and wife Amy of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; and two great-granddaughters, Thea and Opal Shurley, both of Paducah.
She was preceded by her husband, Lynn E. Shurley Sr.; and her brother, Calvin O’Reilly.
Memorial visitation will be held from 3 p.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2013, at Paducah First Presbyterian Church-Memorial Hall.
A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date at Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City, Miss.
